Parent Information
At Barnes Wallis Academy we value the close relationship we have with our parents.
The three-way link between home, school and the student is crucial to the child achieving their maximum potential.
By working together we can ensure a happy, successful secondary school career. We value the support of parents and offer a range of activities to strengthen our partnership.
As part of our Home School Partnership Agreement we expect parents to:
- Take an interest in the work of their child and encourage them to always do their best.
- Monitor their child’s homework on Bromcom and make sure they complete it.
- Make sure their child attends school on time every day and inform the school as soon as possible if they are absent.
- Make sure their child has the right equipment for school and send them in the full and correct uniform.
- Encourage the student to have high standards of behaviour at all times and support the school if sanctions and detentions become necessary.
- Let the school know if there are any problems likely to effect their child.
- Attend parents’ evenings and read letters from the school and reply if necessary.
- Contact the school quickly if worried or concerned about any issue.
- Support events that the school is involved in.
- Encourage the student to respect their environment.
- By agreeing to these statements in this partnership we, as a school will do everything we can to support your child and make sure their time at Barnes Wallis Academy is happy and successful.

Complaints
We welcome your comments and ideas, but hope that the need to make a complaint never arises.
If you have a worry or concern please contact your child's Form Tutor or Head of House in the first instance. Formal complaints, particularly about the curriculum, should preferably be put in writing to the Principal. If you feel you need to make a complaint, we will work with you to resolve the matter as soon as possible.
